Jesus Loves Me

The other night, as we lay in bed, snuggled close, my kids and I sang “Jesus loves me.” Of course, with other songs, they sing haphazardly along with me (complete with the ah ah ah’s where they’re unsure of the words). But, when we began to sing that old favorite, their voices changed. They sang out with the utter confidence, trust, and volume of little children.

Have you ever sat and listened to a child sing “Jesus Loves Me”?

It is a beautiful gift. The truth of those words seems to linger longer when sung in the voice of a child. And I think, no matter how old we get, we need that truth: Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. We don’t have to guess or be left with uncertainty. We don’t have to worry about hidden motives or selfishness. We can trust that Jesus loves us – and rest assured in that truth because God’s word tells us so, and He is utterly trustworthy.

Do you need that truth today?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. ~ 1 John 4:16

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are ~ 1 John 3:1
