Thank you, God.
For the start of a quiet morning, time just to myself before the rest of the house awakes,
For the soft calls of birds, accompanying the vivid colors of sunrise,
For tousled heads and the smell of sleep on children as they tumble out of bed and into my lap,
For healthy appetites and chatter around the breakfast table,
For shared worship and the sound of little voices reading ancient words,
For mornings slow enough I can sit and finish a cup of coffee while sitting at the table with my child,
For books and art and music and the chaotic mess that learning with children is,
For not having to worry about our next meal, the bounty of healthy food available to us,
For “reading parties” gathered round, warm bodies pressed against me,
For a cup of tea while I watch the wind move in the trees,
For talks with good friends while children play,
For shared meals, broken bread, crumbs on the floor, the ebb and flow of conversation at the end of a long day,
For sitting next to the man I love, equally comfortable in conversation or silence,
For the health and mobility to do the tasks in front of us,
For a car that starts and a home that shelters,
For Yourself, Lord,
For the privilege of worshipping you,
For how you hold my heart and life,
For your forgiveness and grace and love,
For discipline and growth and challenge,
For refuge,
For the companions you have granted to walk alongside me to help me (and may I help them in return),
Until we get to heaven.
May my eyes see the beauty, Your beauty, in the ordinary and extraordinary moments of each day till then.
Amen
Come Lord Jesus
