Today

Today I will live in the moment. I will sit and play airplanes with my little boy, “zooming” them off the couch and into us. I will hold and sing to my sweet babe. I will read books (for the hundredth time) with the same funny voices and silly motions I did the first time.

Today I will not be lazy. I will choose not to browse Facebook and Pinterest, mindlessly, mind numbingly lost in the addictive abyss of the internet. I will sit and drink my tea and pray. I will open my Bible and read – and try my hardest to make my sleep deprived mind grasp onto the words.

Today I will say “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” I will be patient with that person that drives me crazy. I will be kind to the cashier who rings up my groceries. I will speak with love on my lips and patience in my heart, especially to the beautiful, precious people who share my home.

Today I will let the Lord use me. I will yield control to Him. I will submit to His wisdom and His laws. Because that’s how the rest falls into place.
