Do Not Be Anxious

Therefore I tell you,
Not your circumstances nor your fickle heart, but I your Lord and Savior speak
do not be anxious
Rest in God’s peace. Stop dwelling in your worry.
about your life,
About these things you think you can control
what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on.
Your health, your job, your day-to-day details
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
There are more important, more eternal things at stake. See your life in light of the real blessings.
Look at the birds of the air:
Stop looking at your own problems. Look outside yourself.
they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
God’s other creatures are not harried as we are, and He knows what they need.
Are you not of more value than they?
Have you forgotten how much he loves you?
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
This stewing, dwelling, replaying has not even produced 60 minutes of life. It only subtracts.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field,
You have forgotten who provides – God, not myself!
which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
He has arrayed these fleeting, fragile flowers with such great beauty!
will he not much more clothe you,
How much more will he care for you?
O you of little faith?
My worry expresses to God my doubts in his ability to provide.
Therefore do not be anxious,
He knew I needed to hear it twice
saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
My own questions may be altered, yet they still reflect my own wavering and worries.
For the Gentiles seek after all these things,
When I live in worry, I am like an unbeliever and not living by faith.
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
God is not surprised by your needs – physical, emotional, spiritual. He already knew you needed them. He knows also how best to provide for them.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
Stop dwelling on what doesn’t last. He takes priority above all else. And his truth is the foundation on which we must build our hearts and lives.
and all these things will be added to you.
God gives them freely, in his own time and his own way.
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow,
How many times must he tell me before I truly release my worries?
for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
My worry wasn’t actually accomplishing anything
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Here in today’s moments I have more than enough to cope with, but He will help me through.
