Lord, you are faithful,
To forgive when I confess,
To keep loving though I have not earned it,
To keep your promises.
You are the source of all good things.
It is you who pours water on the parched grounds of my heart.
It is you who sits beside me in the dust.
It is you who hears my cries, my pain, my insecurities.
Lord you are beautiful –
More than the riot of colors in the sunrise,
More than the peaceful stillness of fresh snow,
More than the shouts and laughter of children playing.
Your goodness and truth,
Your compassion and patience,
I so easily forget,
Distracted by the cares of life,
Swept up by my Martha tendencies,
Weighed down by the burdens I carry,
The ones I should be giving to you.
I am too easily swayed and forget
That goodness is not always easy,
That happiness and fleeting pleasure are not the zenith of life,
And that as you shape my heart sometimes it hurts.
Help me to trust in your goodness,
To remember your love,
To walk in the light of your presence.
Open my eyes to see the cross
And let Christ transform me from the inside out
till all my broken pieces
are lost in you.
