I walked farther today than normal.
Buoyed by dawn’s soft light and gentle birdsong,
my feet brought me to a new bend in the path.
I did not see them till I turned back:
A field of sunny daffodils,
Cheerful faces nodding gently in the breeze,
Tucked behind a tottering chain link fence,
And a dilapidated shed.
They did not require perfection in their environment
in order to bloom.
Nor did they rush about,
Making meticulous plans for the future.
And yet God clothes them,
Each year in his providence.
And their delicate glory
Touches the hearts of those who look,
Reminding us
That God can bring great beauty
even after long winters
Even amidst the broken rubble of our lives,
Even if we can’t see how.
May we each learn to bloom for his glory.
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ~ Matthew 6:28-29
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31
