How God is Trustworthy

Even the very best people in our lives will sometimes fail us. When we lean on them, we find that their clay jars break just as easily as our own do.

But the Lord? He is a refuge for us. He never fails. He is always ready to listen. His word is never false. He does not grow tired, nor does his spirit lag as even the best of our friends might. It is good to remind ourselves of him and his trustworthiness – and then to rest in His power and presence.

How Is God trustworthy? Here are a few reasons:

He never lies

Hebrews 6:18 so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

He is not like people

Numbers 23:19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

He keeps his promises

Joshua 21:45 Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.

He does not leave us

Hebrews 13:5  for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He is faithful

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one

He never quits loving us.

Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

May we each cling to the Lord who can be trusted, through any darkness, through any trial, until we reach home.
