She had come to the tomb in the early morning, thinking to care for the body of the one she loved. Instead, she found the stone rolled away, she talked with an angel, and she touched the body of her Lord not dead but living.
Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her. ~ John 20:18
Her heart soft, her mind receptive, her hands willing – she went and told the others “I have seen the Lord.” Today, we do not have the privilege of touching the Lord physically as Mary did, and yet we, too, can see him in our lives if we look for him.
Do we look for him in the glory of sunrise?
Do we look for him in the flashing lightning and rumbles of thunder?
Do we look for him holding our children, beautiful and innocent souls?
Do we look for him in the courage of those standing up for conviction? Those who forgive unspeakable hurt? Those who bravely endure the trials of life?
Do we look for him in his providence in details both large and small in our lives?
Do we look for him in the words we needed to hear at just the right time, often by those we would never expect?
Christ is at work in our lives just as much as he was in the first century, if only we will open our eyes to see.
