Love is sunshine breaking through rain clouds. Love is words of comfort to soothe the aching heart. Love is wholehearted listening. Love responds with truth and grace, humor and gentleness. Love perseveres. Love keeps hoping, even after all hope seems gone.
Love is the sound of children’s laughter. Love is a thoughtfully timed word. Love is present, slowing down, to simply be. Love wraps up in embraces. Love overlooks mistakes, temper flares, tears, and careless words. Love helps us grow.
Love serves without earthly reward. Love gives without the guarantee of return. Love opens the bloom of trust. Love is faithful. Love is strong. Love reaches farther than death.
Love is God.
And God is love.
And sometimes, when we can let go of self, even just a moment, God’s love can shine through us.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. ~ 1 John 4:7-8
