Some Reminders

Because it is easy to lose our spiritual bearings in the waves of activities, tasks, and busyness.

Some reminders:

*Some things feel urgent. Others are eternal. Learn the difference and spend your time and energy on what’s truly important.

But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” ~ Luke 10:41-42

*Slow down. Unless you’re an emergency responder, few things are solved by moving faster. More often, we live better and love better when we slow down and learn to be still.

“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” ~ Psalm 46:10

*Do not be consumed with stuff. Store up treasure in heaven instead.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~ Matthew 6:19-21

*Trust in Jesus’s words, not the world’s.

Blessed is the man who makes
    the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie! ~ Psalm 40:4

*Learn to be truly present. Give the gift of your time – your full attention and your love. That is much better than any “thing.”

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. ~ Romans 12:9

*Spend time in nature. Remind yourself of God and His sovereignty and providence.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. ~ Matthew 10:29

*Remember that your problems do not depend on you alone. Instead, we depend on the Lord, and He is an unshakeable rock.

But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge. ~ Psalm 94:22
