I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship ~ Romans 12:1
Offering our whole selves to God and willingly submitting to His commands is in itself a statement of who God is.
He is king of kings and king of my life.
Which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords ~ 1 Timothy 6:15
He is a rock – someone I can lean on when life is dark, anxious, or difficult.
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. ~ Psalm 18:1-2
He speaks truth – and I can rely on what he says.
Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. ~ Proverbs 30:5
He is faithful and worthy of my trust.
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:3
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end ~ Lamentations 3:22
But the inverse is also true.
When I refuse to trust God with my life, when I refrain from offering him my whole self, when I refuse to obey, I am essentially saying I trust myself more than Him.
Lord, please help us to trust you more!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. ~ Proverbs 3:5
